Really Good Customer Service

We're all quick to moan about poor customer service so I have to share a simple kindness that made a difference.
We were taking a break in December, and the ice wind had numbed our ears, as we walked along the coast.
We were looking for somewhere to eat our main meal at lunch time. I don't eat meat and the hotel where we were staying served vegetarian food that included rice stuffed in pastry on a bed of mashed potatoes. Carb overload!!, We were looking to have our main meal at lunch time and walked into a restaurant where the welcome was as warm as the pizza ovens at the back of the room
we explained that we were looking for more than a sandwich, and the waitress went off to consult the chef. He duly obliged with a smile, and said he could cook anything from the dinner menu. Not only that but the food was really good.
So what made the service so good?
The warm welcome
The helpful attitude - nothing seemed too much trouble and they were busy
The quality of their food
The waitress taking an interest in us, passing the time of day
The banter we had with the chef
The tip we left reflected the care they had taken.
