Learning has a value for everyone, even if it is not often apparent such as how to use a lawnmower or paint a fence or tidy your office. Sometimes it is resented, not everyone likes being at school or doing exams or listening to speeches. Sometimes we will relish the prospect, to perhaps learn a skill, a sport, how to dance, how to cook, to study in depth a subject you love.
We sometimes take learning for granted, but there is no profit in that. In a wonderful book written by an American academic Jonathon Rose called "The intellectual Life of the British working classes", he cites many people who were driven to learn, the 19th century shepherds who would leave their precious books in stone walls for each other to collect and read; the popular and prolific writer Catherine Cookson who was a semi-literate chambermaid and attended night school, and had a hugely successful career as a novelist. The factory workers who took it by turn to read to their workmates from books and newspapers as they filled his quota.
The potential for learning is everywhere.
